AHHHH! Getting Ahead Again, At Last!

I’m finally making some progress. At Level 70, I now have more than 500,000 Battle Points. I know that Experience Points are necessary to reach the next level, and those are coming along — I should reach Level 71 in a short while. (It might be nice if there were new ships to spend my BP on, but… oh well!)

Training is important, too, and I have been experimenting with concentrating training in different areas, based on what I have noticed other Commanders doing (it is worthwhile to look at the other commanders’ stats when you fighting Skirmishes and Battles)

Attack:	500

Tactical:	464
Cunning:	349
Courage:	343

I have found that the old saying “Choose your battles” is very true here. While backing away from a Skirmish brings a penalty, you can loook for another Battle for as long as it takes you to find a Commander with fewer Attack and Defence Points than yours and a weaker Fleet (i.e., a ship line-up which your Fleet will be more likely able to defeat). I also look at the number of Battles Won when I am choosing a Battle (what is that Commander doing that makes that percentage so high?)

These are my current stats. I am working on improving the Tactical, Cunning, and Courage levels.

LEVEL 70, and the trouble begins again!

I am wondering if I should stop blogging. I was doing great! I started talking about what I was doing, and, suddenly, in a Battle I should have won, according to the numbers, I suffered a Crushing Defeat.

I am writing this for the benefit of people who would like to understand how to play, but now this is starting to be like my stupid job, where the rules change every day, and you don’t find out about the new rules until you accidentally do something that is newly illegal.

This game is starting to annoy me.

LEVEL 70 NOW, and noticing what others do

Yes, I have finally reached Level 70! At the same time, my numbers of sunk or damaged ships are down.

I’ve been doing all the Skirmishes that come my way, and I’ve been choosing my Battles — at times, I have had to seek out other Battles 6 or 7 times, before going to Battle, but it works! If I can find a Commander with fewer Experience points *and*lower grade ships, I can win my Battles.

I’ve also been noticing what people do with their trainings. Some people have huge numbers of points in Cunning and Courage, in comparison with their numbers in Attack, Defense, and Tactical. I was following those who ignored the Cunning and Courage and building my Attack and Defense, but, now, I am working on the Courage and Cunning.

NEW LEVEL, MORE BATTLE POINTS, FEWER DAMAGES, OH MY!

I’ve reached Level 68, and I finally have more than 400,000 Battle Points (I was beginning to despair that I would never reach 300,000 BP.) I actually went to the Shipyard to see if there was a new ship to buy, and that was why they had let me get more points.

Apparently, my new strategy is working. You lose points if you bow out of a Skirmish, but, if you ask for another opponent in a Battle, there is no penalty. I have gone through as many as four tries for a new opponent in Battle.

Right now, I am victorious and happy.

NEW EXPERIENCE (BAD): NEW ATTITUDE

There I was, at Level 66, thinking I was doing great, and no one could touch me. Bad attitude!
Brashly, I went to Battle with some guy who had 100 more battle points than I do, but not as good a fleet. Boo! The other guy won and damaged 3 of my ships. Double boo!

Back to my plan of only doing battle with way weaker commanders.

LEVEL 64! What I am doing

I’ve reached Level 64!!!

Lately, I have been training my Commander twice on one skill and once on another. I switch around.

I have also decided that I should shop around for my battles and find some Commander who has a lot fewer attack points than I do, and definitely inferior ships. Sometimes I have to search 4 or 5 times, but the pay-off makes it worthwhile – It seems that the battlepoints and experience points don’t change, and I tend to have Glorious Victories.

The other thing that I am experimenting with is not repairing my ships right away. Right now, I have been battling for 5 days with one ship that needs repairs, and I am still winning. Okay. Let’s see how long I can go.

NEW STRATEGY

I’m now at Level 62, and I still only have 284465 Battle Points. Actually, I am up from a recent low of 250-odd BP. Right now I have one ship in need of repairs, but I have done battle with it twice so far and won. I do pick my Battles anymore…. I will cycle through until I find someone with far lower experience and no Dreadnaughts. It is worth the effort – fewer damaged or lost ships.

I am experimenting with Training techniques, as well. I have discovered that you can train twice on the same skill, and sometimes the second time, you get higher points.

LEVEL 61 & RUNNING OUT OF OPTIONS

I’ve reached Level 61, but I’m down to 24,900,some Battle Points.

How can it be that, now, when I am a higher level than ever, I never get to keep any Battle Points? Every time I go to do Battle, I wind up with two to three Damaged Ships, and/or a Lost Ship!

Okay, here is my new plan: I am going to only train one day, then only train and do Skirmishes one day, then only train again one day, then only train and do skirmishes the next day, and, on the third day, I will train, do Skirmishes, and then do Battle and see what happens.

This game is getting frustrating. It is not so much fun anymore.

I do like the ability to click ADD ALL and get the ships added right away, since all my ships are the same. It saves time.

CAN’T AFFORD TO DO BATTLE!

I am at Level 59 now, with a full fleet of Dreadnaughts, and I can win Skirmishes and Battles, but I cannot afford to repair three to four ships and/or replace lost ships every time. Repairing one ship costs more than the points I won in my Skirmishes and Battle. This is no fun.

I am now experimenting with several tactics — I am not repairing all of the Damaged ships every time, and I am not automatically replacing Lost ships. Furthermore, I am skipping Battles here and there.

One change I do like is the button to ADD ALL ships. It sure does save time.

FLEET COMMAND: Oh Puh-Lease — this is getting ridiculous!

Excuse me, but….. I am LEVEL 58. I have a full fleet of Dreadnaught Battleships. I do Battle against a fleet of a combination of Light Battleships and Heavy Battleships, and a Commander who is Level 54 and I lose three ships? What is up with that? I am not amused, nor am I entertained.

It seems that now, the object of the game is to avoid losing points by NOT PLAYING. I am getting tired of this. There are no new ships to buy, and even if I have the best fleet against my opponent, I lose battle points. Where is the fun in that? Since I reached Level 50, I have not been able to have more than 300,000 BP, because I am always having to either repair ships or buy new ships to replace sunk ones. The only way to avoid losing BP is to refuse to do battle! That is not fair!

I am getting tired of this game. I am not entertained with the unfairness.

Yes, I could stop doing battle, and stop training my Captain in anything except attack, but where is the interest in that?
